Having just completed the bridging course in preparation for a HNC I can confidently say that it was well worth the time it took to do it (for me personally just over a month). Help was there when needed from the team and I experienced very quick replies when I emailed about a particular issue on a subject I was having. One small piece of advice I would give is to check the forums and FAQs that are at the beginning of every module as if you are having an issue with something in particular chances are that someone has had the same issue and the team have already done a detailed reply.

  2. Ashley Brocklebank

Took me a while to get through the bridging course due to work commitments so took me longer that I’d hoped but the videos explained the subjects very well, John & Andy were on hand via email to help with any queries.

I’ll be starting my HNC imminently.

Top Course which involves all the basics for a better understanding of how electricity DC/AC work and all its components. Any time I got stuck in any topic or exercise Andy was willing to help me and explain to me in more detail. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to build electrical knowledge and follow the Electrical Engineering world.

  4. Andrew Wiltshire

I want to start a HNC in electrical engineering to develop my career but was rusty with some of the electrical theory. This course has been valuable in refreshing my knowledge and covering some subjects I had very limited knowledge of. The subjects are broken down into easy to follow chunks. Well worth investing in for anyone who wishes to complete higher education.

I have taken this course together with Level 3 Essential Mathematics for Engineers and also Level 3 Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering before I complete the HNC in General Engineering. An excellent course that covers a wide range of topics. Andy has been great in giving me help and guidance through any areas that I was struggling with. Much appreciated Andy.

After beeing out of higher education for aprrox 20 years, the bridging course was a fantastic way to get up to speed. The videos from Jon & Andy are clear & very helpful, as are the tests after each subject! When I’ve had problems or not understood something, I’d write a quick email and Andy will respond within 24 hours, with a detailed explanation.

  8. kevintate

Excellent course, a great re-introduction into the world of academia. Having been out of education for over 18 years, I was worried it would be a struggle. This course works at a good pace and although at times it was a challenge, the Tutors were on hand to answer any questions I had.

  9. Toby Edghill

After being out of education for some years now, I found the bridging course outstanding. The platform and tutorials were easy to use to get myself back up to speed. The support was amazing from Andy Smith with only one email away, making the whole process even easier. I will definitely be enrolling on the Electrical Engineering and Electronics HNC through Engineers Academy as I believe the whole team is brilliant!

A detailed and well structured course. Perfect for someone like me who wants to refresh themselves on engineering topics in their spare time. The support from Andy when there were questions I didn’t understand was knowledgeable and well explained. I highly recommend this course.

  17. jamie-evans14 (verified owner)

A very useful course to complete. I did this along with the maths course and I feel like I’ve got more knowledge now than I got from the college course I did. The videos are great and easy to understand, and the support you get from the team if you do get stuck is so much clearer and easier to understand than what you get at college. I much prefer this course method than college lectures.

  18. David

Fantastic course really helps to drill in any essential knowledge before beginning a HNC in one of the various fields. Definitely would recommend.

  19. Abdi Adem

Great course! and it was amazingly delivered. It surely built my confidence in AC circuits and its applications, I would definitely recommend it to anybody who wants to start HNC and does not have strong base in electrical and electronics. It will boost your confidence and strengthen your desire of electrical and electronics engineering.

  20. Tsookrah

Great course, found it very interesting and have learnt so much. The personal support I got when I didn´t understand something was amazing also.

  21. Zac

Brilliant course! It will certainly be challenging for quite a few people but when you come out the other side you have an incredibly firm understanding of all the topics that have been covered. There’s no way of cheating or cutting corners, you have to learn the material and that’s what makes this great. If you’re serious about electrical engineering then this is 100% the place to start. Challenging but in just the right way! Highly recommend!!

  22. Edward Munson

Absolutely fantastic courses. It’s great to have the freedom to go over a topic again and again until you really understand it which is something you don’t get with a classroom environment. I also like that the topics are broken up into smaller sections. It gives you the ability to spend as little or as much time as you want on it depending on how much free time you have that day. I can’t rate it highly enough.

  23. Joecavalli21

I had been out of education for a number of years without any direction or idea of what I wanted to do with my life. Last year I was set on going back to college to study electrical engineering but for a few reasons such as the pandemic etc I started to look for other options as I felt giving up a stable income wasn’t worth the risk with the uncertainty around classroom and 1 on 1 teaching at the time. I then came across Engineers Academy and felt it was the best option for me and I have not looked back since as the course taught me what I needed to know and gave me confidence in myself to be able to learn it. The videos are well detailed and the equations sheets help a lot when getting stuck on some questions but once you understand them its a great feeling. I done this in a bundle with the maths course which Id also recommend. I am now await to start a degree in Electrical engineering with a foundation year at university, so thank you EA for giving me the tools to do it!

  24. James (verified owner)

Fantastic course, really easy to follow and understand. Should give me the essential knowledge prior to undertaking an HNC

  25. CSRailEngineerAQP

Trickiest of the three bridging courses in my opinion and took me the longest to get my head round even though it was the shortest of the three. Good explanations by Jon (who I assume was speaking in the videos) who broke the topics down very well.
Do make sure you pay attention to the equation sheets at the start of the sections, they come in quite handy and complement what’s not in the videos well.
There are also loads of formulas in this course so they’ll be your best friend to avoid having to rewind the videos like I did many times to find relevant stuff.
Very interesting content too with the way it all links in.
Thank you EA for the course.

  26. Dave

A fantastic, comprehensive course broken down into bite sized, manageable topics that has enabled me to understand the basics to a satisfactory standard. Its great that you can work to your own pace and the tutors are there to assist you when you get stuck and get back to you in a very timely manner with the wisdom you need.

  27. Daniel Penhaligon

I have recently completed the Electrical & Electronic Engineering bridging course and hope to complete the Maths bridging course before starting the HNC. I wasn’t sure whether or not I would need to do this bridging course seeing as I studied Electrical principles at college. However, I was amazed at how much I had forgotten and this course has been a fantastic way of getting back up to speed. There were a few times where I was a bit lost on how to get the answer but the course tutors were very quick in responding to my questions. Overall I would highly recommend this course to anyone!

  28. Adam Carter

I completed this course along with the Essential Maths course as preparation for the HNC. The video tutorials are very clear and easy to follow and the content is arranged in a logical order. I now feel like I have the knowledge and confidence to go on to the next level.

  29. Claudia

Having no background in electrical engineering, I have learnt loads on this course. The lessons are very well delivered and you walk away with understanding what was being taught. Have to say, I really enjoyed this course and would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn/refresh electrical engineering.

  30. Steve Leggett

I took this course to help prepare for the HNC course as its been 16+ years since i last studied. Great course, alot of information and the website is easy to use. I enjoyed it.

  31. Sean Dawkins

After deciding to enrol on the general hnc after 6 years out of education i opted to complete the bridging courses available to prepare. I had very limited knowledge in electrical engineering so was slightly intimidated by the prospect of the hnc. This bridging course is very well laid out with the tutorials explaining step by step and has given me in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals. Help is also available through email for any occasions you require Additional support or clarification and the response times are excellent. I would recommend this course for anyone wishing to begin or recap in this subject.

    • andygsmith

Thank you for your kind words and recommendation Sean. We always appreciate feedback from our students!

  32. Usman (verified owner)

The course is set up in a way which allowed me to progress with a decent amount of knowledge. The video lessons are time friendly but yet informative. The support I received from Andy was fantastic yet again as he showed me where I went wrong and how to go about solving said error. The course introduced me to the basics first before moving onto the more advanced concepts. From there I progressed through each quiz at my own pace. Along the way I did appreciate completing the maths bridging course first as the skills/knowledge gained there had a direct impact in this course. I can walk a way from this course with a somewhat different mindset as I now look at home appliances, street lamps and even my mobile phone in a different way as I understand some of the basic formulas used for said item to function. I did use excel to complete some of this course which allowed me to see how useful that piece of software can be. I aim to use this knowledge to great success in the HNC god willing. Thanks again Andy for all the help.

    • andygsmith

Well done on completing both the Maths and Electrical bridging courses. Your feedback is important to us and we are pleased that you have taken a lot away from the course. We would be more than happy to accept you on to our Electrical HNC programme in the future.

  33. James Burns

The course is excellent. The tutorial videos are easy to understand. The questions become increasingly challenging, building on what you have learned and pushing you to think for yourself. Also the support from Jon (Lead Lecturer), when I needed it, was very quick and helpful. Altogether, learning through this platform has proved to be very beneficial to me. After completing both the Maths Bridging course and the Fundamental of Electrical Engineering course, I feel like I’ve developed a keen, analytical mindset. This has given me great confidence for when I plan to begin the HNC later in the year.

  34. Ian Clark

An excellent course for the work-weary electrician to brush out those cobwebs and renew that once easily understood principles subject. Challenging in all the right places but backed up with superb video tutorials to review and check anything you’re not quite sure of.

    • andygsmith

Thank you for your kind words Ian. We are very pleased that you have found the course to be of use!

  35. Andy

I started this course concurrently with the Mathematics course, as a revision guide/re-entry to the Electrical/Electronic Engineering sector, having previously studied and worked in Engineering many years ago. The material has been well presented and methodical in its approach and it has helped me develop a strong knowledge and confidence platform for future studies/work. A nice surprise, was the use of Excel to carry-out mathematical activities to solve complex problems, now I am using it a lot more.
Thanks Andy for the course(s), just excellent.

    • andygsmith

Thank you for your kind words and feedback Andrew and best of luck with your future studies. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to work with you again in the future!

While waiting for my exam results from another college I decided to give this course a go and I must say this course I actually enjoyed . The videos were easy to follow and the quizzes were challenging . I did get stuck a few time but with great support from Andy I managed to overcome them. As a result I decided to do the E&E HNC with this academy instead of the other college where I was going to study mechanical engineering. Can’t wait to get started!

    • andygsmith

Thank you for your feedback Istvan. You did a great job on the Electrical bridging course and we are now happy to accept you on to the HNC programme. The next cohort starts in 6 weeks, so hopefully that fits in with your plans. We look forward to working with you again soon!

  37. Kris Rhodes

I started this course in conjunction with the Mathematics for Engineers course in preparation for starting a HNC in Electrical Engineering Next year.
This course has been a brilliant refresher on the electrical fundamental’s that I learnt during my apprenticeship. Working in a first line engineering environment for the last 16 years means my theory knowledge had become a little rusty. (Don’t use it you lose it).
The course is so very easy to use and very well made and set up. The video tutorials are brilliant, everything is clearly explained. And the beauty is if you don’t understand it first time you can always re-watch the lesson until you do (All at your own speed). If you still don’t understand it the superb support from Andy Smith will solve your problem. (He even replies to emails at 0630 Hrs)
I’ve really enjoyed this course and it has definitely restored my fundamental knowledge. I’m now 100% ready for my HNC- HND then maybe even my degree. Let the hard work continue.
    Many thanks
    Kris

    • andygsmith

Hi Kris, thank you for your positive feedback. It is always reassuring to know that the structure and content of the courses is benefiting our students and enabling them to progress at their own rate. I am happy to answer questions and assist students, although it won’t always be by 6.30 am (consider yourself privileged!). Keep up the good work and best of luck for the future.

  38. Igorssuna

HI Andy, just dropping quick feed back.
This course was the last bridging course for HNC in General Engineering. Now I am feeling excited.
Year ago I was doing NVQ 3 in electrical engineering, but this course told me 10000% more then i learned from NVQ3.

Course is very good made and easy to use. Not to mention the superb support from Andy Smith …
Also worth to mention I done all 3 courses in 2.5 months which is not easy but achievable.
Thanks Andy for this opportunity and I wish you all the best for your future.

See you at HNC level 4 in General Engineering. 😉

    • andygsmith

Thank you for your kind words and well done for finishing the course with such an outstanding overall score! I look forward to working with you on your chosen HNC programme.

  39. Bugga

I am starting my HNC in electrical engineering in September & have used this course to help me get upto speed as I have been out of education for some time. I found it really useful & the format is good and you can work at your own pace. I would also have considered doing the full HNC with them but unfortunately it didn’t start untill next year.

    • andygsmith

Thank you for your kind words Andrew. I am confident that you are very well prepared for the course and wish you every success for the future. All the best!
